Michelle Hively

Michelle attended Hanover College in Southern Indiana for her undergrad where she majored in psychology with minors in theology and gender studies. She attended IPFW for graduate school and obtained a master's of Science in Education with concentration in couples and family counseling. She is a licensed LMFT and a professional member of the AAMFT (American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy). Michelle is passionate about helping adolescents, adults, couples, and families identify how past experiences impact current perceptions of self, relationships, and safety in the world. She works to meet clients where they are at and support them in this journey. Michelle utilizes psychoeducation and mindfulness techniques to help clients gain awareness of the mind-body connection. Along with this, Michelle has additional training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Flash Technique for working through trauma, Restoration Therapy, and has completed Levels 1 and 2 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.
Michelle has worked in residential and outpatient settings with adolescents, adults, couples, and families helping those dealing with trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and other relational issues. In residential settings, she specifically worked with adolescents to develop healthy sexual attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors. Michelle works with her clients to help them gain awareness of the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to support positive change. This change begins with establishing a trusting therapeutic relationship and walking the therapy journey together.
